Cost

The insurance cost depends on the child's age and your selected insurance amount. The insurance amount is adjusted annually to the price base amount.

Insurance amount

The insurance amount dictates how significant your compensation will be if your child suffers from a severe disease, disability, or loss of ability to work. If any of that happens, you will get a percentagebased compensation corresponding to your insurance amount. E.g., A ten percent disability will pay 48,300 SEK if the insurance amount is 483,000 SEK. Compared to 241,500 SEK with an insurance amount of 2,415,000 SEK.

Child insurance

If the child suffers a permanent disability after an accident or illness, we will pay a lump sum.

The sum is calculated in percent of the insurance amount you have chosen, combined with how severe the disability is. If the disability is at least 20%, we pay an enhanced compensation.

For some stated diseases, the compensation is limited to 19 %.

A lump sum payment is made if the child has a permanent reduction in work capacity of at least 50 percent, as a result of an injury or illness.

The sum is calculated in percent of the insurance amount you have chosen. Combined with the degree of medical disability and the extent of the incapacity to work.

If the child is diagnosed with a serious disease such as severe brain damage, malignant cancer, ulcerative colitis, or MS, compensation equivalent to 10 % of the insurance amount will be paid immediately after the diagnosis has been established by a physician.

All comprised diagnoses are stated in villkor (in Swedish only).

If your child suffers from an accident or disease, he or she might need extra care for a long time. Suppose you, as a caregiver, are eligible for care compensation or compensation for a seriously ill child to at least 25 % from the Swedish Social Insurance Company (Försäkringskassan). In that case, the insurance can provide an enhanced amount of money.

The Compensation is provided monthly and gives up to 115 500 SEK, year 2023.

From 18 years of age, a child who has been disabled to work for at least 50 % in 90 days or more can receive monthly compensation.

The level of disability determines the compensation and can, at the longest, be paid till the child turns 30 years old.

The highest payed compensation is 10 500 SEK a month, 2023.

We pay compensation if the child needs to be hospitalized.

In 2023, the compensation is 630 SEK per day, at most for a year.

If the child needs medical treatment at home after a hospitalization, we will pay compensation. This applies if treatment is required for more than 10 days after the child was hospitalized.

In 2023, the compensation is 630 SEK per day for at most 30 days.

Compensation is paid for scars, skin changes, and hair loss that is believed to be future permanent. The wound must have required medical treatment from a registered and impartial physician or nurse.

Compensation ammounts are stated in Ärrtabell in Villkor (in Swedish only).

Compensation is provided for doctor visits, travel and medicine. In the event of an accident, we will cover these costs for up to a maximum of five years. In the case of illness, we will cover these costs for up to one year, with the exception of the first 30 days.

In case of an accident, compensation is paid for a dental injury that needs professional treatment. Compensation is paid up to five years from the accident date. Sometimes, the final treatment must be postponed until the child gets older. In those cases, we make an exception from the five-year rule and pay compensation for a later treatment.

Compensation is paid for glasses, clothes, helmet, hearing aid, or other medical equipment damaged due to the accident. Compensation for damaged goods is only paid if the accident demands professional medical or dental treatment.

In 2023, the compensation is at most 13 125 SEK.

A lump sum is paid if the child seeks emergency care and is required to stay overnight at the hospital.

In 2023, the compensation is 788 SEK.

We give rehabilitation compensation to help get back to work or studies. Compensation is also paid for medical aid that can relieve disablement.

In 2023, the compensation for rehabilitation and medical aid is at most 262 500 SEK.

Compensation is paid for therapy if the child suffers a crisis reaction. The compensation covers up to ten treatment occasions within one year from the first treatment.

The reason for a crisis reaction can, for instance, be an accident, disease, violence, threat or bullying, or a relatives death.

In 2023, the compensation is at most 13 125 SEK.

Regardless of the reason, a lump sum is paid if the child dies.

In 2023, the compensation is 65 625 SEK.

If anyone of the child's guardians dies, the insurance will be free of charge until the next renewal date following the child's 18th birthday.

The child insurance expires when the child turns 25 years old. The child will then be offered to sign an Accident and health insurance for adults. The insurance amount is 10 price base amount, and no new health examination is needed.
