Corona - What is accurate about our insurances

On the following page you will find information about our insurance policies with regards to the Corona virus, Covid-19. What is covered by our insurances depends on the situation.

Travel Insurance

Your travel insurance is part of your household insurance. Whether you are in an affected area, want to cancel a trip or if your trip gets cancelled, you need to:

  • Follow the recommendations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Foreign Ministry now advises from any unnecessary travelling to all countries.
  • If you choose to not follow the traveling recommendations from Ministry of Foreign Affairs you will not be covered by our insurance. Be aware of the risks you take when travelling without an insurance.

The cancellation cover in the travel insurance does not reimburse a trip that has been cancelled because of the recommendations from the Foreign Minstry, not to travel. 

We suggest that you contact your tour operator or airline to investigate the possibility of canceling or re-booking the trip.

The cancellation cover does not apply if a trip is canceled by the travel company or because of a government decision. Depending on how you purchased your trip, different conditions apply. We suggest that you contact your airline, travel agent or Consumer Europe.

If you arrived to an affected area before the Foreign Ministry of Affairs gave recommendations not to visit, you are covered in terms of medical care if you suffer from severe illness or accident.

Return trip to avoid risk of getting infected

Our travel insurance does not cover a return trip to avoid contagion or due to concern.

Return trip if become critically ill

If you become critically ill, the insurance pays out necessary and reasonable costs for care and home travel.

Quarantine

If you are in quarantine due to the risk of infection, there is no insurance cover. If you have become ill, travel protection applies as usual for necessary and reasonable care costs.

Travel insurance with bank card

If you haved paid at least 75 percent of your trip with Länsförsäkringars bank card, an extra travel insurance and travel cover is included as long as you have a medical certificate. 

If you cancel your trip, the rules of the travel agency you booked your trip with applies. Contact the agency that is relevant for your trip. For example, you may have paid fees and taxes to be refunded.

You bank card also comes with a purshase protection which gives you the possibility to file a complain of an item or service that has not been delivered. For example cancelation of a flight. You should always first contact the store or business of your purchase. If this is not sucessful, please contact us as soon as possible to file a complaint. 

Business insurance

The spread of Covid-19 affects the global economy. This raises concerns for business owners. Below you will find more information what is covered by your business insurance.

Business trip

  • Please follow the recommendations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Their recommendations will affect what is relevant for your business trip insurance.
  • If you choose to not follow the traveling recommendations from Ministry of Foreign Affairs you will not be covered by our insurance.

The cancellation cover in the business trip insurance only applies if you or your travel companion has become ill and you are therefore unable to pursue your trip. You will not receive reimbursement from the insurance if you cancel your trip, even though the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends no traveling. Not even if you have received medical certificates that do not recommend travel because you belong to a risk group.

Interruptions in the business

The business interruption insurance only applies if there is a compensable actual damage to the business, such as a fire or burglary, which leads to an interruption. If you have to carry out an event without an audience, a limited number or cancel, you cannot receive compensation from the cancellation insurance.

Infectiousness insurance only applies if the authority, supported by law, decides to intervene in or close down your business because it has been found to be contagious in the insured business.

If you run a restaurant located in an arena where all events have been canceled you are not eligible to get financial compensation. The business interruption insurance only applies if access to the business is prevented by a barrier ordered by a rescue service or police authority. You cannot get reimbursement from the cancellation insurance for lost income due to concerns about the Corona virus. 

Infectiousness insurance only applies if the authority, supported by law, decides to intervene or shut down your business because of established infection in the insured business.

The business interruption insurance does not apply to lost deliveries due to the supplier not being able to deliver due to Corona virus. Cancelation of supplier insurance only applies if there is compensable property damage at the supplier which results in you being unable to get deliveries to your business.

There is no insurance for having coworkers who are in quarantine and have to work from home.

There is no insurance that covers lack of customers which affects the business financially.

Health insurance

Covid-19 is covered by the Diseases Control Act and therefore does not apply to the health insurance, neither for individuals or companies. Other diseases and disorders the health insurance applies as usual. If you have any questions about the corona virus, we will refer you to the Public Health Authority for the latest information.
